My work revolves around 3 main axes: Artistic works, creation of design objects and interior decoration and creation of jewellery. I work with glass in all its forms, hot and cold. I make glass beads with a blowtorch, I practice glass blowing which allows me to give volume to the glass and glass casting to form a hollow or flat object depending on the available surface. I also make engravings on glass to decorate it.<\/span> <\/em><\/p>

It was the magic of molten glass and its infinite possibilities of creation that led me a few years later to decide to do this job full time<\/em>.<\/span><\/p>

I have had an interest in boats for many years, but at first it was just sailing.<\/span><\/em><\/p>

I started working in this profession when I was 17 years old, as a sweeper at the National Museum\u2019s boat workshop, after that I sailed with the Danish School Ship and then I continued here, at the G\u00f8tche’s Boat Builders, as an apprentice.<\/span><\/em><\/p>

If you would like to get into this profession, I think you should approach your local shipbuilder and ask if they need a hand. Otherwise you can start with some basic education. It takes many years of hard work to master this profession. You are trained after 4 and a half years, but most say it takes 10 years to become a real boat builder.<\/span><\/em><\/p>

As founder and owner of Bernies SC, I offer a wide variety of self-designed watches as well as custom <\/span>guilloch\u00e9 <\/span>to all types of international customers. The “Guilloch\u00e9”, gives a luxurious aspect to the watches thanks to light effects. In addition to watches, I also make guilloch\u00e9 for other products such as jewellery, belt buckles or even decorative objects.<\/span><\/em><\/p>

Ever since my childhood, I have been passionate about crafts and manual skills. So, after my “classical” studies in economics and languages, I followed a training in watchmaking at the “Institut d’enseignement des arts techniques de sciences et artisanats” (IATA) in Namur (Belgium) and I followed courses in metal engraving and guilloch\u00e9 with master Alain Lovenberg, in Durbuy (Belgium), and in other workshops in Switzerland, who certainly influenced my motivation.<\/span><\/em><\/p>

The real skill in guilloche is acquired mostly by \u201cdoing\u201d. It takes a lot of practice and patience. It took me 5 years to acquire real professional skills and I still learn every day.<\/span> <\/em><\/p>

In 1906, my father, Mr. Cyril Joch, founded our workshop dedicated to blue-dyeing. I inherited the business and proudly continued the craft.\u00a0<\/span><\/em><\/p>

Over the last 8 years, I have been passionately passing on my skills and knowledge to my daughter. She knows how to print, but still needs to learn how to dye. However, what truly excites us is the new dimension she is bringing to our workshop by introducing blue-dying as a therapeutic practice for overall well-being. I am a traditional Tupese ceramics maker, carrying on a craft that was founded back in 1914 by Mr. Jaroslav \u00da\u0159edn\u00ed\u010dek. Today, this unique style of ceramics is only crafted here in Tupese.<\/span><\/em><\/p>

I started learning the craft at the age of 15, right after completing my primary school education. I received my formal training at the School of Arts and Crafts in Prague, where I spent three years mastering the specific techniques of Tupese ceramics.<\/span><\/em><\/p>

My passion for handicrafts and the fact that I grew up in Tupes led me to choose this craft.<\/span><\/em><\/p>

I do not use any prefabricated elements, but I rather build stoves from scratch. Every stove I make is unique and reflects both my creativity and the needs of the customer.<\/span><\/em><\/p>

The craft of stove making is based on a thousand years of tradition, and our processes and methods are largely the same as they were a hundred years ago. The only changes brought are in regards to new materials and technological advancements. So the evolution is present, but you as a customer when looking at the final, finished stove would not even notice any difference between the old stove, made years ago, and the ones we create today.<\/span> <\/em><\/p>
